Feel the Peace at Sabarmati Ashram
Tucked on the banks of the Sabarmati River in Ahmedabad, the Sabarmati Ashram was home to Mahatma Gandhi from 1917 to 1930. It was from here that Gandhiji led several crucial movements, including the iconic Dandi March, which shook the foundations of British colonial rule.
More than just a residence, the Ashram served as a strategic nerve center during India’s freedom struggle. Political leaders, revolutionaries, and ordinary citizens alike visited Sabarmati to seek Gandhiji’s counsel and participate in discussions that would go on to shape the nation.
Today, the Ashram has been preserved as a memorial to Gandhi’s life, values, and teachings. The premises include the Hriday Kunj (his residence), a museum housing rare photographs, letters, and his personal belongings, along with serene gardens and prayer grounds.
